Sixers currently have fourth-best title odds in NBA, per Draft Kings

Following the trade heard ‘round the world, which sent wayward point forward Ben Simmons to Brooklyn in return for former MVP James Harden, our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook have updated the Sixers’ 2021-2022 NBA Championship odds. It will come as no surprise to many of you — given that the Sixers have essentially replaced Seth Curry in the starting lineup with James freaking Harden — that the team’s odds have seen a boost since the trade.

We absolutely do deserve James Harden as a Sixer

I must admit, I’m still a bit drunk on last night’s game.

Watching James Harden — perennial All-NBA candidate, surefire Hall of Famer, oftentimes MVP contender, James Harden — play for the Sixers felt so impossibly right.

A common refrain in the days and weeks since the trade which brought Harden to Philadelphia, and especially as Harden played so tremendously last night — tallying 27 points, 12 assists, eight rebounds and a game-high +35 — that I read online from Sixers fans was: oh my god, we don’t deserve him.

Sixers fans, I’m here to tell you: Yes, we do. We absolutely do.

Ben Simmons is not a victim here

I feel like I have to start this by making one thing clear: I have no issue with Ben Simmons (or any other NBA player) asking for a trade out of Philadelphia. I am pro player movement. I think that the increased autonomy and agency that players have finally been holding over their careers is not only long overdue, but a boon for the most important faction of the NBA at large.

Sixers Player Profile: Shake Milton

Age: 24 (turns 25 on September 26)

Contract status: Shake is entering the second year of the three-year, $4.9 million contract extension he signed with the Sixers prior to the 2019-20 season. The final year in the contract is a team option.
